These thermometers are widely used in the dairy and food industry. Specified instruments are furnished with a transparent coating, which does not interfere with the reading of the instrument. This coating reduces the chance of the instrument shattering should it be accidentally struck against the side of the vat. In case of breakage the coating will help prevent the broken glass, mercury or spirits from contaminating the food by retaining the fragments of glass, mercury or spirits within the plastic coating. The coating is not affected by the action of hot substance and will have no effect on the taste or other qualities of the food.
